Meet The Founder

Poor In Ministry, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoring, rebuilding, & redeeming of homes, lives and communities here on the West Coast of Florida. Established on November 5th, 2025, we are embarking on a mission led by Jesus. The vision he's given to me, Joseph Alan Seabolt is larger than life and practical at its core. Although looking at the big picture, it seems an impossible task when looking at from my own, networking ability, resources, and financial assets, much less my business knowledge. Jesus has a plan though! 

When I was given the idea & started to share my idea with friends and family, more than 3yrs ago, they were taken back and surprised. The heart Jesus has given to me for this is in the right spot, but timing didn't seem right to everyone. I wanted to start a GoFundMe right away and didn't even have any family to help. So, it got kicked to the back burner for a couple years. Then Milton & Heline showed up and the spark in my heart was started to fire again. I got back to the drawing board and started brainstorming ideas that were in my head and writing down the statements, answering some of my own questions as if someone else was asking me them, and put it all on paper, started building a website on GoDaddy, I filed with Sunbiz, got the process started to qualify the business with its own CRC license, and was trying to stay away from becoming a nonprofit. I believed it wasn't going to have to be a nonprofit! 

I had pre-conceived notions about nonprofits and a bad taste in my mouth about asking for money from others. I have been swinging a hammer since I was eight, being a construction worker most of his life, always had a job, I worked hard and was raised by hard working parents who didn't ask for hand-outs. Having a "charitable arm" to my existing handyman business was the idea given to me buy a retired nonprofit lawyer and I thought that will work. I was wrong. I soon started to learn this idea wasn't going to fly in the state of FL. The only way to gain grant funding, ask businesses of donations, solicit for funding in any respect, Poor In Spirit Ministries was giong to have to become a nonprofit. As you read at the top, that's what has happened. 

Now, we are partnering with plumbers, HVAC, electrical, engineering & drywall companies right here in the Pasco County area, to benefit our community and small businesses, while making a difference in the lives of those we help. Our board of directors is only 4 strong right now and we are looking for more people with similar hearts who want to get on board! Please email us at:

Jesus started this ministry before I knew He did, He started it with me and my family and our community here in Pasco County. As a felon myself, ex crack addict and alcoholic, I didn’t think I had any usefulness, I thought myself worthless, cruel, unable to change even if I wanted to. I worked construction my entire life besides some warehousing jobs as a teenager. I had desires to be a professional businessman, but I was missing two main ingredients, professionalism and business knowledge. Not to mention being a “man”. Not doing what a real man does, is what the real problem was. So, I spent 24yrs chasing drugs and alcohol to wherever it wanted to take me. I ended up wanting to kill myself while in jail again and the opportunity was there, but Jesus had other plans for me. 

He saved me while in jail, revealed Himself to me, reunited our family, showed and taught me what it means to be a man, brought me up out of the hell I was living in, made me a productive member of society, gave me a business in the construction industry and showed me that with Him all things are possible.

Around The Town Handy Man”LLC" which is my first business, has remodeled and repaired over 10,000 homes in the last 12 years and 100 of these recipient’s had not had to pay a dime out of their own pockets for materials or labor. ATTHM"LLC" is constantly growing in clientele and keeps the doors open with repeat clients. This is how Jesus showed me that even when I thought I was dependent on others for my income I was so wrong. He is the author and finisher of our lives, every aspect of it. That means He controls all things and works all things out for the good of those who love Him and are the called according to His purpose. If He can do this with me, He can do it with anyone in His family and that’s just what we are going to help Him do. Jesus has a plan!

We help make repairs, remodels, & rebuilds possible on residential homes, affected by hurricanes Heline & Milton here in the Pasco County, FL area. 

We still have a GoFundMe up and running and until our bank account for the nonprofit is set up we are relying on tracking donations there.
